The storm countdown
Inspired by the Game jam theme: "Calm before the Storm"
The game tries to introduce a calm and relaxing scenery with chill background music. As the game progresses, the weather worsens and more obstacles are added to increase the difficulty. Each new round is procedurally generated and all levels should be possible
Challenges
- Dodge spike obstacles by timing your jumps
- Avoid getting damaged by thunder by performing quick action events
- Clear the gaps and trees
- Keep the pace up to make sure you are in frame
Notes
- The game lags in the browser due to the cross-fade between the audio (Bad code by me). But using the Windows executable the game runs smoothly
- This was my first time using Godot Engine, so I gave it a shot during this Game Jam since it has the export to Web feature. I was also inspired to use Godot because of Brackeys' two comprehensive tutorials.
- I spent around 20 hours on this game and introduction to the engine
Used resources
- Most of the art is by Kenny.nl which provide free assets (The rest are drawn by me, background, lightning, etc)
- The sound effects are provided by https://freesound.org/
- The background musics are provided by https://pixabay.com/
